Style Muse - Grace Slick

I am always intrigued by female rock figures. Grace Slick is no exception. Her natural beauty and strong and beautiful voice make her one of my favourites. The fringe, the mini dresses, kaftans, brocade and paisley. Some of my favourite elements of vintage fashion. Grace wears all these styles so convincingly. Needless to say, I am now on the hunt for great mini dresses, and anything with feathers! Stay tuned for some great hippie stylings to come your way....

Vintage In The Kitchen

Here at The Vintage Ramble, we can't get enough of vintage kitchen accessories.  There are just so many great vintage pieces for your kitchen out there, we can't help ourselves!  So naturally our kitchens are brimming with Pyrex bowls, tins, serving platters, jars.... I can go on.

As I gear up for a kitchen face lift in our home, I can't help but drool over some of these great vintage kitchen inspirations.  I tend to gravitate towards bright colours in the kitchen, and have already accumulated quite the collection of Pyrex, so my plan for our new kitchen:  neutral counter, cabinets and floor with pops of colour in all the accessories.  One of my most cherished pieces is a vintage advert promoting bagged milk.  A huge bright graphic sign that really stands out in our room. This is another great way to add colour and charm to the kitchen.  There are so many great advertisements for food and kitchen products out there that can be had for a reasonable price.

Since I spend so much time in the Kitchen I believe it's worth making it as inviting and beautiful as any other room in the house. So if your a vintage lover, decorating the kitchen with old unique pieces is the way to go.  It can be fairly inexpensive and will surely make a unique statement in your space.

Be sure to check out our great housewares section at the next Vintage Ramble Party.  We have mugs, tea pots, Pyrex and more!

Silk Scarves 3 Ways

We want to show you 3 ways you can use a vintage silk scarf in your everyday wardrobe.  Silk scarves are a really easy accessory especially if you favour neutral colours. Since a lot of the vintage printed scarves are pretty bold and colourful, they are a great way to add life to an outfit.

1. Wear a scarf tied in your hair

This is a great option if you are having a bad hair day, or if you simply want to dress up your hair.  If your into more of a bohemian style, this is also a great look.  All three of these outfits are made up of mainly neutral basics, and the scarf is the one stand out item that completes the look.

2. Use as scarf to embellish a bag

It might seem crazy to accessorize your accessories, but in this case it works.  Be it for function or just for the look, a scarf tied to your bag strap or handle can be an unexpected pop of colour, and a good way to show off some of those great vintage printed scarves.

3. A Pocket Square

Dudes,  silk scarves aren't just for the ladies.  Reinvent a jacket by using a pocket square.  Ladies, do the same!  Not sure how to fold a pocket square find istructions here and here

Make sure to have a look at all the silk scarves we have at The Vintage Ramble.  Don't let these beautiful prints and fabrics go to waste!

The Results are in....

We had asked you to tell us what things you most wanted to see at the next sale, and you did!  The winner of the poll is SHOES! For all of you who came out on Saturday, first thank you, and second I hope you  enjoyed our shoe selection.  We had a whole new section of shoes this time around, and boy were there some good ones.  I say were, because most of the good shoes have been sold.  We try to pick the best quality vintage shoes out there, and we won't lie, we love shoes too.  So it was to our excitement when we found all the shoes you see in our collection, and boot season is right around the corner, so stay tuned for some great Autumn kicks.

Stay tuned to the blog, because we have a HUGE announcement coming up.  We are also going to be trying some different posts this month, some styling tips, and some trend reporting.  And remember August dates haven't filled up yet, so if you were thinking of hosting a party, now's your chance! Email us for booking inquiries, or check out our calendars for available dates.
